Although the spot where her grave lays has now been lost, Ms Eleanor Coade should not be forgotten - at her workshop in Lambeth she pioneered the artificial stone known as 'Coade' stone. The lion at the south side of Westminster Bridge is a superb example of this type of artificial stone, as are the tombs at St Mary Lambeth of the Seely family (her relatives)and William Bligh. She rests unmarked at Bunhill Fields, but her legacy remains in the memorials she created at St Mary.
