A Time to Be Born: Odessa Eloise Harris was born on January 12, 1958. She was the third of five children born to George and Marian Harris Sr.

A Time to Build: In 1977, she graduated from the Louisa County High School. After graduation, she was employed by several manufacturing companies for a total of 15 years. She also worked in the food service industry, which includes, Pizza Hut (22 yrs.) and Hardees (23 yrs.)

A Time to Serve God: At the Ebenezer Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Joseph Haden, Odessa at the age of 12 joined and was baptized. She was a very devoted and active member. Among her services were: President of the Usher Board, President of the A.L. Carter Singers, Bulletin Committee Member, Member of the Hospitality Committee, Youth Sunday School Teacher and Church Administrator.

A Time to Unwind: Odessa loved sports. She played softball for the Mineral Mets. She coached basketball for Parks and Recreation for over 10 years and each season was a winning season.

A Time to Die: She was called home on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 7:10 PM.

A Time to Weep: Odessa leaves to cherish her loving memory, a devoted mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. George Harris Sr.; two sisters, Leatrice Pace (William) and Cheryl Harris of Mineral, VA; one brother, George Harris Jr. (Barbara) of Mineral, VA; one nephew, Jermaine Pace Sr. (Fiance, Jackie Parrish) of Louisa, VA; two nieces, Chasity Harris and Jasmine Harris of Mineral, VA; three great nephews, Jermaine Pace Jr., Jhalil Parrish and Sunta Grimm of Louisa, VA; five aunts, Mrs. Nannie Johnson, Mrs. Eva Shelton (Vergie), Mrs. Shirley Johnson of Mineral, VA and Mrs. Arlean Anderson (Warren) and Mrs. Joyce Holt of Montpelier, VA; two uncles, Andrew Harris and Thomas Harris of Mineral, VA; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Vanessa G. Harris.

A Time to Celebrate: Homegoing services were held at 12 noon on Monday, September 9, 2013, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 864 Pendleton Road, Mineral, VA, with Rev. William House officiating and the Rev. Temple Anderson, Sr., eulogist. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
