Obituary

ELYRIA - Carol J. White (nee Nemeth), age 75, of Elyria, passed away on the morning of September 5, 2013 following an extended illness. She was born in Lorain on February 9, 1938 and was a 1957 graduate of Lorain High School; Carol had been a resident of Elyria since 1979.

Mrs. White was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society there. She was a former member of the United States Army Reserve and had been active with the Women's Fellowship at VFW Post # 1079 in Elyria.

Carol had previously served as both a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was a member of Parents Without Partners. In addition, she served as an adult support facilitator for the teenage Al-A-Non program in Lorain County.

She had been a fourteen year member of the Tappan Square Dance Club and enjoyed making costumes for square dance competition. In her free time she enjoyed world travel and was particularly fond of trips she had taken to Europe, Hawaii, Spain, Portugal, and a multitude of destinations within the continental United States. Additional interest included candle-making, camping, canoeing, sewing, and raising flowers.

Survivors include her loving husband of twenty-two years Darrell T. White, daughters Joyce M. Klein of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Karen J. Klein, granddaughter Valerie Klein-Marin also of Chesapeake, great grandchildren Zoe-Nevaeh Klein-Marin, Emery-Daniel Klein-Marin, and Hayden Klein-Marin, as well as her sister Shirley Franta and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary (nee Golobic) Nemeth, and by her brother Donald.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning with closing prayers in the funeral chapel at 8:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Charles T. Diedrick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Memorial contributions are encouraged to St. Mary Catholic Church.
