TALLEY, Edmund Myers, 85, passed away August 19, 2013 peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife and adoring daughters. Edmund was born in Richmond, Va. on January 3, 1928, the son of the late Dr. Daniel D. Talley Jr. and Anne Hays Myers Talley. He graduated from St. Christopher's School and received a B.A. at The University of Virginia. His military service included a tour in Korea as a sergeant with the 7th Infantry Division. His business career began with four years in the tobacco industry. In 1956, he went to work for Beverley and Hershey Commercial Printing Company, where he became vice-president in 1964. The company sold out to William Byrd Press, where he retired as regional director of sales in 1990. Edmund was a lifelong member of Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, having served on the vestry three times. He served as director and treasurer of the Country Club of Virginia, president of the Richmond Hundred, and a trustee of the Westminster Canterbury Foundation. He gave himself to many civic undertakings, including The Virginia Voice and The Virginia Historical Society. Edmund was a member of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Virginia Historical Society, Valentine Museum, The Richmond German, The Commonwealth Club, The Country Club of Virginia and Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Edmund fondly remembered his childhood times at Oak Hill Farms in Jessup, Md. He also valued his many summers with the family at Squam Lake in Laconia, N.H. His hobbies included playing golf, fishing, UVA football games and always making people laugh. His great since of humor and frequent use of limericks continued throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Langhorne Eyster Talley; and three daughters, Wissie Talley Pillow (husband, Billy) of Richmond, Dana Talley Nettles (husband, Truett) of Charleston, S.C. and Julie Talley Crenshaw (husband, Lee) of Richmond. Papa was beloved by his six grandchildren, Sam Pillow, Chris Pillow, Austin Nettles, Keene Nettles, Ned Brauns and Nancy Brauns. He maintained a close and loving relationship with his extended family, especially his many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Daniel Doak Talley III and Dr. Lilburn Trigg Talley.

A graveside service will be held at Hollywood Cemetery Saturday, August 24, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Capital Campaign Fund, 8 N. Laurel St., Richmond, Va. 23220.
