CHARLES LANTRY KILLED WHEN STRUCK BY TRUCK LATE NEW YEAR'S EVE
Charles Lantry, a former Blair man who has lived in Omaha for a number of years, was the victim of a hit and run driver in Omaha on New Year's Eve.
The victim was a brother of George Lantry of Blair. He was a steel worker and painter specializing in steeplejack jobs. Years ago he worked on the river bridges at Blair and on Blair grain elevators.
Lantry was the man who was a member of a painting crew at the courthouse several years ago. He had a place of finish and the rest of the crew went to lunch. He continued his painting and was later surprised to find the Blair Rescue Squad gathered on the Courthouse lawn preparing to help him get down. A neighbor had called and reported that the rest of the crew had left him there and he could not get down.
Lantry was born at Blair January 1st, 1903. He would have been 73 years of age the day following the accident. He was killed instantly.
He is survived by his wife and by two daughters.
He is survived by two brothers, including George Lantry of Blair.
He has two sisters. There are 15 grandchildren and some nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Fitch and Cole Mortuary in Omaha at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery after 2:30 p.m.
