Born in Stratford, S.D., Bud moved to Salem in 1936, attending Aumsville High School.
He served in the Army from 1942-1946 and was stationed in Philadelphia and New Orleans. Following his discharge, he joined Pacific Northwest Bell and worked as an engineer in Seaside, Albany and Portland until his retirement in 1982.
Bud was active in community service including charter president of the Tacoma Kiwanis Club in Albany as well as president of Raleigh Hills Kiwanis Club. He coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball for several years taking two teams to Hawaii on a team exchange program. He loved golf, hunting and fishing, traveling and the theatre.
He is survived by his wife, Enid of 66 years; his sister, Genny; his daughter, Sarah and partner, Joel; son, Ron and wife, Ingrid; four grandchildren, Erika, Kelsey, Aaron and Garrett; plus four great-grandchildren, Kaila, Audrey, Bryson and Mackenzie.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Maryville Nursing Home, 14645 SW Farmington Road, Beaverton at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.
