Obituary from the "Jefferson Bee," April 3, 1918:
Death of Mrs. Ferrell
Mrs. James Ferrell, wife of Engineer Ferrell of the court house, died very suddenly last Sunday shortly after noon at her home in the Maplewood Addition to Jefferson, while sitting at the dinner table. The cause of her death was heart failure. She seemed to be in her usual health, and her death in an instant of time was a terrible shock to the family. Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Father McAuliffe. The attendance of friends and relatives of this good woman was very large. The internment was in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Ferrell leaves to mourn her death a husband, seven children, namely, John M., Teresa E., Frank, Edward, Thomas M., Orpha and James L. Ferrell, also six grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Jerry Cudahy. The out-of-town relatives at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Timann of Eureka, Wis.; Mrs. Timann being a sister of Mr. Ferrell, and Mrs. Kate Perrigo (sic), a niece of the deceased. All the children were present at the funeral except her son James, who is in training at a camp in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Ferrell's maiden name was Margaret Foley (sic), and she was 65 years of age.
