WELL KNOWN HERMAN FARMER IS STRICKEN SUDDENLY SATURDAY

Always Active in Church and Community Affairs

August Ruwe, one of the most progressive and well-to-do farmers of this county, died suddenly at his farm home eight miles west of Herman last Saturday afternoon. His death was due to a heart attack and came suddenly, giving the family no warning until the end came.

Deceased was born in Germany August 8, 1874, and came to America when 18 years of age, settling in the Fontanelle neighborhood. He was married February 24, 1902 at Lyons, Nebr. to Miss Matilda Luebker, and they immediately took up farming on a farm near Telbasta where they resided for six years.

At the end of the six years, they moved to the farm west of Herman where they have since made their home, and where Mr. Ruwe took an active interest in all civic affairs, having served for the past twenty years as a member of the school board, which position he held at his death.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Brown Creek Lutheran church of which he was a member, and interment was made in the church cemetery.

Besides the bereaved wife, he leaves two sons, Leland and August, both at home with the mother and two sisters, Mrs. William Meier of Blair and Mrs. Herman Meier of Hooper, all of whom grieve their great loss.

NOTE: The Vig Files / Danish Archives indicates that Mr Ruwe was interred in Vacoma Cemetery. A search was done of the cemetery in August 2013 by Mr and Mrs B (members #47821438 and #47910340). No stone was located at that time, although Mr Ruwe does have an entry in the Washington County records regarding burial in Vacoma and wa possibly interred there originally. ~ Thank you for your efforts, Mr and Mrs B
