Norman V. Wood, 72, St. Joseph farmer, died at his home at 10:25 am Tuesday, June 20, 1961. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday at the Church of Christ, St. Joseph, with Rev. William Schoville officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at the Freese Funeral Home, St. Joseph, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday. He was born Aug. 13, 1888, in St. Joseph Township, son of Henry and Lucinda Peters Wood. He married Mary Ferris in 1910, She died in 1920. He married Mary C. Austin Sept. 1, 1921. She died Aug. 27, 1953. He is survived by three sons, Lawrence, Urbana; Lorin, St. Joseph, and Earl, Red Wood Falls, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Honn, St. Joseph; six grandchildren; four brothers, Carlos, Sidney; Walter, Urbana; John, Clearwater, Fla.; and Ross, Iona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. He was born, raised and lived his life time on the farm south of St. Joseph. He was a member of the Church of Christ, St. Joseph, where he was an elder for 25 years, member of St. Joseph Lions Club, and the Champaign County Farm Bureau over 40 years.
