James Reid Davis, 88, passed away at his home Friday, July 5, 2013. He was born March 20, 1925 to Franklin Leroy Davis and Myrtle Reid in Ogden, Utah.

He graduated from Davis High in 1943. He joined the Navy ROTC program and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Civil Engineering. He served in World War II. He served a mission after the War in Texas-Louisiana for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He married Mary Emmett McDougald in the Salt Lake Temple on 18 March 1949. He served in many leadership positions in his faith. He served as a Bishop, on the High Council, Stake Mission and as Bountiful Temple worker.
Mary and Reid served missions on Temple Square, Toronto, Canada and Little Rock, Arkansas.

He worked for 40 years in his engineering field which included working for Alaska Bureau of Public Works, Utah State Dept. of Transportation, and Hill Air Force Base. He retired in 1987 after working thirty-two years at Hill Air Force Base.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Allen, LaMarr and Junior. His is survived by his sister JoAnne Meyer, by his wife, Mary and children Stan (Nadene) Davis, Cheryl (Kevin) Kemp, Susan (Carl) Stephenson, Charlene (Clint) Fleming. He has ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Quail Crossing Chapel (Oakridge Ward) located 2230 South 350 East Kaysville. Friends may visit family from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment and military tribute will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Clinton Cemetery. Bishop Troy Wood will officiate.
