Leon W. Flock, passed away at his home in McCook, Nebraska on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Leon was born on April 11, 1920 to Chester and Hattie (Easton) Flock on the Merton Flock Farm south west of Maywood, in Frontier County, Nebraska.
Leon attended grade school at Bluff View southwest of Maywood, Nebraska and then graduated from Curtis (NE.) High School in 1937. He married Florence M. Kennedy on October 10, 1940 in McCook. The couple made their home in the Maywood and McCook, Nebraska areas. Leon farmed the land he loved for many years. He also worked for the United States Post Office for 40 years as a contract route mail carrier.
Leon helped consolidate four rural country school districts into a new district 77 and also served on the board as secretary and treasurer. He looked forward to coffee with the guys each day throughout the years.
Survivors are: children, Leroy (Erika) Flock of Mill Spring, North Carolina, Lois (Tom) Sharp of St. Francis, Kansas, Ron (Noreen) Flock of Maricopa, Arizona and Larry (Lynn) Flock of Queen Creek Arizona; sister, Maxine (Jack) Viersen of North Platte, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Leon was preceded in death by: parents and wife, Florence Flock.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska.
