Death Of Lewis P. Green

Died at his home in St. Louis Monday morning, Lewis P. Green, aged 76 years. Mr. Green had been critically ill for some time, no hope being entertained for his recovery for the past two years.

Lewis P. Green was a son of Col. Levi Green and was born in Summer County Tennessee, Nov. 3, 1831. With his father he came to this county when a child of six years and settled in the Prairie Church neighborhood, being one of the earliest settlers there. He was educated partly in Lexington and partly at Sweet Springs, then Brownville, at a school conducted by Rev. G.L. Yantis. He was married to Miss Marry Murrell, daughter of Samuel Murrell, of this city, Nov. 22, 1852. To this union sever children were born, of whom the following are living: Mrs. Chas. Baohannon, St. Louis and Miss Daisy Green St. Louis. The latter is now critically ill in St. Louis. Mr. Green lived county continuously until about ten years ago.

The body of the deceased was brought here for interment in Machpelah cemetery Tuesday morning. The services were conducted by Rev. E.C. Gordon were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Gordon.
