Mr. Marion E. Cooper, age 90, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Born in Mardela Springs, MD on September 2, 1922, Mr. Cooper was the son of the late Ernest L. Cooper and Victoria Wilson Cooper. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII with the 643rd Tank Destroyer Battalion and bravely fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Cooper worked in the engineering department at the Hercules Company before his military service and was later employed in the accounting department at Delmarva Power, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

A 50 year member of the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed a deep sense of community there. In his leisure time, Mr. Cooper relished time spent outdoors, tending to his gardens and bird watching.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Agnes Wessells Cooper; sons, John Cooper and wife Stephanie and Gary Cooper and wife Ellen; brothers, Paul Cooper and Jackie Cooper and wife Patsy; sister, Marjorie Foskey; grandchildren, Kimberly Cooper, Peter Cooper and wife Rebecca, Thomas Cooper, Angela Cooper, and Paul Cooper; and great grandchildren, Domynic and Ariyanna.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining White Clay Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church at the address listed above.
