TOWNSEND, MARY RUTH - age 63, of Knoxville, went to be with her Savior on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Ft. Sander's Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by husband, Bobby Townsend; mothers, Betty Jean Covington and Lois Hendrick; grandson, Jim Bob McMahan; and many brothers and sisters.

Survived by son, Kyle (Annette) Townsend; daughters, Brenda McMahan of Oklahoma, Vicki Townsend, Tammy Duncan, and Georgia Irwin all of Knoxville; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings, Charles and Jan Headrick, Wayne and Martha Headrick, Judy and Jerry Patterson, Ed and Dolly Headrick, Mike Headrick, Dorothy Headrick, David Larry and Donna Covington, Rick Covington, Eddie, Leon, and Doug Shook; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. George Seay and Rev. Gary Bingham officiating. The family and friends will meet at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (Lyons View Pike) for a 9:30 a.m. interment service.
