Death: Aug. 16, 1924

David Cullen "Cul" Grubaugh was born in 1844 to David C. Grubaugh and Sarah S. Conkil. He was the 8th of their 11 children. David served in the Civil War, Co. H, 152nd Illinois Inf. Reg. Following the war, he married Anna Matilda Shannon on 23 Jan 1867 in Crawford County, IL. He and some of his other siblings chose to stay in Crawford County, IL rather than relocate to Christian County, MO with his parents. It's likely because he was settled and Anna's parents were staying in Crawford County.

David and Matilda had 6 children - James Andrew Grubaugh (16 Apr 1868-11 Mar 1907), Mary Frances "Fannie" Grubaugh Berry (Jan 1871-9 Oct 1928), Annie S. Grubaugh (24 Sep 1876-14 Nov 1876), Medford E. Grubaugh (10 May 1878-4 Oct 1887), Benjamin A. Grubaugh (29 Dec 1880-6 Jun 1885), and Lena Pearl Grubaugh Collins (30 Apr 1883-11 Aug 1955).

David worked as a farmer. He died in 1924 and Anna Matilda died 3 years later. They were able to celebrate 57 years of marriage before David died.

Here is David's newspaper obituary:
