Edna Marie Pellett
February 16, 1930 - August 19, 2013
Atascadero, California

Edna Marie Pellett passed away on August 19, 2013. She was born to Louis and Anne Ohmes Lobmeyer on February 16, 1930, and was raised on her family's farm twenty miles outside Garden City, Kansas.

While a teenager, Edna met the love of her life. Edna and three of her friends from boarding school attended a movie theater one evening. They requested the usher seat them near the handsome young men. The usher replied the young men were not in the theater yet. Not long after, Marvin and his buddies arrived, and the usher sat then a few rows behind the young ladies. Marvin found Edna very attractive and tossed a few popcorn kernels in her hair. Soon the young ladies had moved to sit with the boys. When the movie ended, Marvin and his friends walked the girls back to their place. Edna and Marvin were married April 22, 1948, and stared their life together in Wichita, Kansas. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this year.

In 1955 Edna and Marvin hooked up their trailer home in Wichita, and headed west to California, landing in Atascadero. Their trailer home did not survive the move. Edna, Marvin and their first three children shared a tiny space with relatives at the Atascadero Lake Park, in what is now known as the Ranger Station. Soon they purchased their first house, and made a home in Atascadero.

Edna was the busy mother of six children, and was also active in the community. She was a member of the St. William's Altar Society and Lewis Avenue PTA. She was a project leader for both Rio Rancheros and Trail Blazer's 4H clubs. She served on the Atascadero Advisory Board for years up until Atascadero's incorporation. She happily volunteered at her children's sporting events, FFA, in rest homes helping the elderly, and for meals on wheels.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael Lee Pellett, sister Carolyn Davis, brother David Lobmeyer and grandson George Pellett.
