Edward John Horrocks, 78, retired Ogden merchant whose family had operated a mercantile store on, the 2400 block of Washington boulevard for 70 years, died Saturday night of a lingering illness.
Mr. Horrocks was born February 4, 1867, in Ogden, to Samuel and Catherine Buckingham Horrocks, and had lived in Ogden all his life. He was manager of the Horrocks store until four years ago when his health failed.
He was married to Adeline Dana August 15, 1888, in the L. D. S. Logan temple. Mrs. Horrocks died n Ogden in 1936. He was a member of the L. D. S. Twenty-fourth ward.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joseph M. Tracy; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Horrocks, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Baxter, all of Ogden, and three grandchildren, Captain Edward D. Tracy, stationed n Georgia with the army engineers; Mrs. M. W; Rankin, of Helena, Mont., and Mrs. William J. Smith, of Salt Lake City. The body is at the mortuary at 466 Twentyfourth.
