Lena Margaret Hardester was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Peru, Neb., the youngest of nine children born to Lena and Alonzo Huston. She grew up around Neligh, Neb., where she graduated from Neligh High School.
Lena lived in Middletown 48 years where she worked for Earle Wrieden until she retired. She was very active in the community and volunteered her time with various organizations.
She was a founding member of the Middletown Lionesses and belonged to the United Methodist Church. She was also well known at the Middletown Senior Center, where she met many friends until her illness.
After Lena became ill, she spent the last year living with Darrel and LeAnn in Willits until her passing on Monday, Jan. 10, 2005.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: daughter, Barbara and husband Fred Trochimowicz of Spokane, Wash.; son, Bill Wink and wife Sylvia of Middletown; daughter, LeAnn and husband Darrel Schnitzius of Willits; brother, Earl Huston of Middletown; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husbands Ed Wink and Reed Hardester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Middletown Senior Center, P.O. Box 1037, Middletown, CA 95461, are requested.
