West Virginia, USA
|Death: ||Nov. 28, 1963|
Ida, my great-grandmother, who I remember very well. The thing that stands out in my memory the strongest are the memories of her garden and meals served when we visited. The meals were served buffet style, dishes loading down several large tables. Some meat, but overwhelmingly, dishes of vegetables, fresh, canned, dishes and dishes of her home grown vegies.
Ida's obituary was published in the Friday, November 29, 1963 issue of "The Daily News-Herald", Harrisonburg, Virginia:
"Mrs. David Halterman
Mrs. Ida Matilda Halterman, 88, wife of David Halterman and a resident of the Bergton community for many years, died Thursday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. B. Caplinger, in Cleveland, Ohio.
