WRITTEN BY PROVIDED TO SENTINEL-TRIBUNE THURSDAY, 14 MARCH 2013 10:27 Calvin Michael Aurand, age 93, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away Thursday (March 14, 2013) at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was born on June 28, 1919 in Wayne, Ohio, to the late Harvey Michael and Nora M. (Hedge) Aurand. Calvin married Donna P. Ward on June 28, 1942 in Wayne, Ohio. Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Donna; Sons, Eugene (Karen) Aurand, Clair (Irene) Aurand, both of Wayne; Daughter-in-law, Clara Aurand of Fostoria; Brother-in-law, Robert Smith of Fostoria; Grandchildren, Kevin, Rodney, Carrie Davisson, Charlie, Penny Widmer, Jesse; 11 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Nora; Son, Glenn Aurand; Sister, Donna Smith. Calvin served his country proudly in the Army during WWII. He was the former owner of the Aurand field drainage company with his legacy being continued through his son and most recently his grandson. Calvin was a member at the Wayne Church of Christ, former member of the Knights of Pythias, former member of LICA, and also the former Fire Chief in Wayne. He was a member at the former Wayne and former Portage America Legions, and a current member at the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner, Ohio. Calvin was a farmer, he enjoyed custom harvesting, and was a member of the Wood County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed Wood Craftsmanship and liked wood scrolling and making lawn ornaments. Friends will be received Sunday (March 17, 2013) from 2 to 6 p.m. at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday (March 18, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Minister John Amstutz officiating. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery, with military honors performed by the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Wayne Church of Christ.
