Boring, Betty Ruth (Mimi) Baker went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, December 5, 2003 at her home. She was born in Blount County on February 10, 1927 to M.D. and Mertie A. Rule Baker. She lived in Blount County all her life and was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus E. Boring. She was employed in numerous retail positions for many years but her main profession was as a mother to her three children, Linda Lea Whitehead of Maryville, Patricia A. Morefield of Mountain City, and Mark Boring Jr. of Maryville and as a grandmother to Scott Whitehead, Robert Whitehead, Jessica Phillippi, and Seth and Paige Morefield, and as a step grandmother to Marie Vogel and Jason Morefield. She has one great- grandson, Christian and four step-great-grandchildren, Logan, Kelsey, Shantel, and Brenden. Survivors also include: Sons-in-law, Phillip Whitehead and Jack Morefield; and Daughter-in- law, Tina Boring; Brother, Hugh Tipton Baker of Athens, GA; Sisters, Willie (Bill) Deweese of Maryville and Clara Grainger of Corpus Christi, TX; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM, Sunday, December 7, 2003 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Greg Long and Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, Jill Rollins, 2330 Chesterfield Drive, Maryville, TN 37801 or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3736 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37804.
