"Major George Gearhart Lott, 77, civil war veteran died Sunday at his home, 530 Greenup street, Covington.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nannie Southgate Lott, and one son, George Southgate Lott of Dayton, O.
Major Lott was a student of West Point when the civil war began. He volunteered in the Union army and later he was appointed to the staff of Major General John E. Wood. He served on the staffs of a number of distinguished generals during the war. After the war he was commissioned in the regular army. Major Lott served with distinction in Indian campaigns.
He was a member of the Loyal Legion and Masonic order. For more than thirty years he has been a member of the Trinity Episcopal church in Covington."
