Lucy Pratt, born in about 1808 to Calvin and Rosetta Campbell Pratt at Troy, Bradford county, Pennsylvania was one of nine children. In 1827 her father passed away. Her mother re-married to Wanton Westgate that same year. From this union were born two more children before her mother passed away in 1829.
Because Lucy was not considered of age, along with three other siblings, her brother, Jehial T. Pratt, petitioned the Bradford county orphans court, and was granted custody of the younger siblings. That same year Lucy married Hiram Andrus, also of Bradford county.
From this union were born three known children; William, Calvin and Julia Andrus, all born in Troy. According to a later biography of Calvin Andrus, the family moved for a time to New York State and eventually to Oconomowoc, Waukesha county, Wisconsin.
In the 1855 WI State census, the family, including an additional unknown male, resided in the Oconomowoc Township village of Monterey, where Lucy's sister Eliza Pratt Vrooman lived with her husband William Vrooman. Julia Andrus had married Jacob Vrooman in 1852, and lived nearby also.
By 1865 Hiram was living alone there, and was listed as widowed on the 1870 Federal census and single on the 1875 State census.
A map of the Monterey Village Cemetery lists H. Anehes(?) on Plot 1, and Carrie, wife of William is subsequently buried there, confirmed by a headstone. Therefore, it is assumed that the name is misspelled on the map, and should be H. Andrus or Andrews, and that both Lucy and Hiram are buried there as well.
