George E. Headley, 71, of 164 First avenue, Waynesburg, died at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 1955, in Greene County Memorial Hospital following an illness of a week.
He was born on March 30, 1884, in Richhill Township, a son of Newton J. and Anna Chess Headley, deceased. He spent more than 20 years in Aleppo Township and lived in Bristoria for several years where he was a contractor in the oil and gas fields prior to the past seven years which he has spent in Waynesburg performing janitorial duties at Waynesburg College.
His wife, Dell M. Pettit Headley, whom he married on September 11, 1906, survives. Surviving also is one son, George W. Headley of Stone Church Road, Elm Grove, W. Va.; one grandchild, Billie Jo Wilson, and one great-grandchild, Lucius Hoge Wilson III, both of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, A. P.. Headley of Moundsville, W. Va. and Oscar R. Headley of Graysville, and one sister, Flora B. Nelson of Waynesburg. He is preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He was a former member of the Bristoria Grange and of Long Run Church.
