WOODIE S. REEMS, age 86, of Alto, GA passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009.
Mrs. Reems was born in Banks County, GA on November 15, 1923 to the late Melvin Fletcher and Mary Frances Gillespie Shannon. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Edward "Ed" Reems. Mrs. Reems was a graduate of Banks County High School and attended Piedmont College. She was a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church and former church secretary for a number of years. Mrs. Reems was also a member of the church choir. She retired from Community Bank and Trust with over 30 years of dedicated service.
Survivors include daughter, Marie DeHart, Powhatan, VA; son, Mike Reems, Alto, GA; sister, Mary Louise Shannon, Baldwin, GA; brothers, Marvin Shannon, Forrest Park, GA and Otha Shannon, Alto, GA; 5 grandchildren, Rev. Keith and Amy Reems, Clermont GA, Brent Reems, Mt. Airy, GA, Neil and Tara Reems, Alto, GA, Greg and Thelma Smith, Chester, VA and Kim Smith, Star, Idaho; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Cornelia United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Green officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
