JOHN WESLEY BEARDIN
Born August 5, 1888, in Jefferson County, Ill., died October 20, 1918, in Commerce, Okla. His parents were Robert Lee and Mahala Beardin.
His boyhood days were spent on the farm. At the age of sixteen, he moved to Enid, Okla. In 1902 he moved to Miami and worked in the mines a short time.
He married Bessie Lee November 8, 1910. They later moved to Commerce where he devoted his energies to plumbing. He was a member of the firm of Parker and Beardin and was successful in his work.
By his pleasant and agreeable manner he attracted a wide circle of friends. This was in part attested by the closing of business houses from 3 to 4 on the afternoon of his funeral.
He professed hope in Christ during the recent tabernacle meetings and had united with the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Commerce.
Besides his wife he leaves two little children, Preston Lee, age six, and Dena Pauline, age four. His mother and brother Frank from Illinois reached his bedside before his death. A sister, Leona, from Enid was also in attendance. He is also survived by Lola, Billy, Bessie, Sadie and a half brother, Elmer Catron all of Illinois.
