Steven Sinch departed this life on January 18, 2010 at New Life Hospice with his family by his side after a brief illness.

He was born October 19, 1916 in Passaic, New Jersey and a long-lived resident of Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1935. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain where he served as usher for 30 years. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 451.

He was an electrician with the IBEW (International Brothers of Electrical Workers), Local 129. He was also an electrical contractor and an electrical instructor at Parma Institute of Arts: I.C.S. Industrial Electrical Engineering.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WWII, as Chief Petty Officer, Electrician's Mate and received four battle stars; serving also in Africa, Sicily, Italy, Okinawa, Japan, Liberation of Philippine, occupation of Japan in Yokohama.

He was an avid golfer, book reader and enjoyed playing old-time tunes on the fiddle.

He is survived by his son, Barry (Diane) Sinch, of Roseville, CA; daughters, Gaylyn (Linus) Seckel, of Vermilion, Jaclyn (Edmund Fullerton) Mirali, of Amherst; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Sinch, his beloved wife of 52 years, Marion (nee Tarski), and sisters Anna Sinch and Ann Surace.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 20th from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Church of St. Peter, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Military honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 451 and the U.S. Navy.
