James Welch served in the Pacific with the Army Air Corp. during World War II. He retired from the Air Force in approximately 1957 and worked for RCA at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. In 1958 he transferred with them to Cape Canaveral Florida to work on America's Space Program until his retirement.
