YORK Elaine L. (Broadbelt) Root, 77, died peacefully and ascended into heaven to become our guardian angel from above, at 6:14 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services Kingston Court. She was the wife of the late Allen H. Root. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York. The service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with her pastor, the Rev. Gregory D. Seckman, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.
Mrs. Root was born January 26, 1936, in Reading, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin R. and Gertrude L. (Brinker) Broadbelt. She retired after 20 years as a teacher's assistant with L.I.U. and was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Root is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. Cassel and husband, Steven D. of York; a son, Allen H. Root, III of York; four grandchildren, Brianna M. and Alana E. Root, and Eric A. and John B. Cassel; and a brother, Richard Broadbelt and wife, Doris of Reading. She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Broadbelt. Fondly known as Lany Lu, Elaine especially loved her children, grandchildren, and friends, and she was beloved by all. She will be dearly missed.
