William James Kitchener was the eldest son of James and Charlotte Telfer Kitchener. He was born in Marylebone, London, England on 8 March 1839. On the 5th of July 1860 he married Elizabeth Marshall who was from Scotland. There in England they had six children
William James Kitchener Jr( 1861-1937)
James Kitchener ( 1862-1921)
Frederick Marshall Kitchener ( 1864-1929)
Catherine Kitchener ( 1866-1866)
Andrew Douglas Kitchener ( 1867-1956))
Frank Kitchener ( 1870-1949)
In 1971 they emigrated to Toronto, Ontario Canada where two additional children were born
Jessie Kitchener ( 1872-1872)
Florence Kitchener ( 1875-1952)
Sadly the only daughter that lived passed infancy was Florence.
From pictures that I have seen I believe music was something that was strongly encouraged. The only photo that I have of William shows him sitting and reading the newspaper with his sister in law Kate tending his grandchild Nellie and his son Frank playing the mandolin while Florence is playing the piano.
He died 9 April 1901 in Toronto and was buried in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
