SPRINGFIELD - Michael J. Albert, 64, passed away on August 5, 2013 at his apartment at Reed's Landing in Springfield, MA. He was born January 6, 1949 in Springfield, MA, son of Aldore A. Albert of Belchertown and the late Lucille (Morin) Albert. Mike has resided in Belchertown, MA and East Longmeadow, MA for many years. Michael graduated from Springfield Trade High School in 1966 and then proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps, enlisting for two tours of duty in Vietnam. After the service, Mike worked as an electrician at St. Jean Electric then Monsanto/Solutia Chemical Company in Springfield where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of the Belchertown VFW Post 8428 and Chicopee American Legion Post 0275. He was an avid Ram's fan and enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, and playing pool. Besides his father Aldore, he is survived by his beloved daughters, Lauren Cousineau and husband Bruce of East Longmeadow, MA and Renee Albert and her daughter Isabella of Portsmouth, NH. He will also be greatly missed by his four sisters, Mary Albert of Florence, MA, Sandra Zwirn of Berwick, ME, Karen Winkler of Springfield, MA, and Susan Amaral of Chicopee, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his mother Lucille and older sister, Joanne Rowland. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam for 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 08, 2013 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rt116) in South Hadley, MA.
