Leona M. Hansen, 91, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Leona Mildred Johansen was born Nov. 28, 1917, in Antelope County, Neb., to Kristian F. and Lille (Johnson) Johansen. She was baptized at the Danish Lutheran Church in Antelope County.

She moved with her parents to Fremont, and later to Lincoln. She was confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937, and received her teaching certificate from Dana College. She taught school in Tekamah and Kennard.

On Sept. 14, 1940, she married James F. Hansen in Lincoln.

The couple farmed in the Cumming City area until 1980. Mrs. Hansen was the librarian at the Blair Public Library for 19 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher. She also helped with 4-H and was a member of the Bridgeview Extension Club and the Monday Afternoon Club.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Hansen of Yankton, S.D., and Richard and Lorraine Hansen of Blair; five granddaughters, Kristin and Todd Loncorich, Plymouth, Minn., Susan Hansen and Tod Foley, Minneapolis, Minn., Amie and Clint Clausen, Randolph, Kathryn Hansen, St. Louis Park, Minn., Cindy and Troy Clausen of Blair; great-grandchildren, Jolee, Jordan, Chase and Triston Clausen, and Ann and Rachel Loncorich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1987; an infant daughter; infant great-granddaughter, Wilson Hansen Foley; brother and sister-in-law, Ivan and Agnes Johansen, sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Mae and Mark Benson and Dorithy and Jack Obbink.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Community or the Blair Public Library.
