Germaine Theresa Zaborniak, 76, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 surrounded by her devoted husband, Ed, and family. Affectionately called "Maga" by her loved ones, Germaine made a unique and lasting impression on all those who knew her.
Born August 31, 1933 to parents Mary and Michael Kocak, Germaine built a lifelong home in Lorain, Ohio, close to siblings Maryanne (Robert) Vinovich, Helen (Kiki, deceased) Olejko, Barbara Mettler and John A. Kocak. She and Edward Zaborniak, Sr. celebrated a marriage of 55 years and four children; David (Karen) Zaborniak, Diane (Charles) Monschein, Edward (Danielle) Zaborniak, Jr. and Lynn (Bill) Faria; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.
With a long career as a bank teller, Germaine's warm personality shone in her everyday interactions with customers and her community. As an active participant in her church, St. Peter's, she donated much of her time to others and her faith.
Germaine was preceded in death by her brother, John Kocak, son ,David Zaborniak and both her parents, Michael and Mary (nee Kulas).
Maga will be warmly remembered and greatly missed. Her memory is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Prayers will be held in the Funeral Center, Saturday September 19, 2009 at 9:00 a.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
