Birth: Mar., 1873

Tennessee, USA
Death: Dec. 23, 1930

Samuel Woods was the son of Hugh Phillips Woods 1840 1863 and Sarah Goins 1847. He had one known older brother, John Richard Woods 1867- 1943.

He first married Nancy J. Presley Apr. 10, 1888. From this marriage there was no issue. On Apr. 12. 1897 he married Mary J Bass. Together they had 3 known children. They were: Charlie Woods 1888; Sallie K Woods 1893; Lula M Woods 1895.

The 1900 census stated that he was a farmer and owned his own land, free from a mortgage.

The next information about Samuel Woods was revealed from his Death Certificate. He died on Dec. 23, 1930 in rural Rogersville, Hawkins Co., Tennessee. The informant on the certificate was his brother John Woods.

His body was to be taken to the Harrison Funeral Home, Rogersville, Tennessee, to be prepared for burial at the Ebbing and Flowing Cemetery in Rogesville on Dec. 24, 1930. This would be a sad Christmas for Sam's family. They gathered around his gravesite to bid their beloved Sam farewell. (bio by Audrey DeCamp Hoffman)
