Lemon Albert Pickler, 5th child of George and Emily (Martin) Pickler, was born September 17, 1852 in Washington County, IN and grew up in Davis County, IA. The family moved in Kirksville in 1866. In 1870 at the age of 21, Lemon A Pickler enlisted in the US Army and was released 2 July 1872. On May 28, 1874, Lemon A Pickler married Ella Minerva Wilkes, daughter of Willliam Wilkes and Elizabeth Jane Morrow, at the home of his brother John Alfred Pickler, who was later a state senator of North Dakota. Lemon and Ella left Missouri and traveled to Nevada where their first child, Claude Leroy Pickler was born in 1875. They travel the west, moving from Elko, Nevada to Resting Springs, Inyo County, California where Lemon farmed and mined. The family then moved to Mineral, Washington County, Idaho. In 1900, Lemon Pickler was located in Battle Ground, Custer County, Idaho where he was a Civil Engineer. An illistrated "History of Baker, Grant, Malheur, Harney Counties", date of publication 1902. Surveyer, L. A. Pickler, Demorat, 539, no opposition. 1905-07-09; Paper: Idaho Statesman, a notice shows A. L Pickler (LA Pickler) , a civil engineer recently from Idaho has located in La Grande. His family has arrived from Idaho. In 1910, Lemon Pickler with his family was found living Portland, Oregon
