Carmel A. (nee: Bruno) Aldridge, passed away peacefully at Hospitality Manor, under the compassionate care of Hospice Alliance, on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.

A lifetime resident, Carmel was born in Kenosha on Sept. 7, to the late Joseph and Rosina (nee: Marchese) Bruno.

On Nov. 8, 1976, at the Great Lakes Naval Base, she was united in marriage with Gary Aldridge, who preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2002. Carmel was employed as a nursing aide at Brookside Care Center for many years, and with her commitment to helping workers along with her strong opinions and tough personality, she was elected as President of their local union. She continued to care for her older sisters after she retired. Following her retirement from Brookside, she enjoyed working as a hostess at Dairyland Greyhound Park.

Carmel was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Catholic Church; Past-President of the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary; traveled extensively; and was extremely active in the Democratic Party having the opportunity to attend John F. Kennedys Presidential Inauguration.

Surviving are her brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Bruno and Eugene (Gina) Bruno; special niece, Gloria Andrea; special nephew, Joseph (Rita) Cucunato; other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carmel was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances (Charles) Cucunato, Margaret (Michael) Andrea, Mary (Joseph) Bisciglia and Theresa (Frank) Bruno, and her very close companion dog and best friend of 17 years Buffy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2224 45th Street, with Fr. Angelo Casimiro officiating. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. In memory of Carmel, memorials to Holy Rosary have been suggested.
