Country Singer. A native of Franklin County, Virginia, he was a noted string band fiddler. Rorer was a member of the musical group, 'North Country Ramblers,' with his brother-in-law, the famed banjo player Charlie Poole. In 1928, there was a disagreement between the two men, and Rorer was promptly replaced by fiddler Lonnie William Austin in the group. Following his removal from the group Rorer became a 'wanted' session player and played as a backing musician to the likes of Kelly Harrell of the 'Virginia String Band,' Walter 'Kid' Smith, Preston Carter, and Buster Carter. He continued to be active in music until his untimely death, and was buried in the same cemetery as Poole, who had died in 1931.
