DAVENPORT — LaVon White, 83, a former resident of Muscatine, Iowa, died Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Kahl Home in Davenport.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the St. Mathias Church. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the committal service, a funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences for the White family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

LaVon was born on October 2, 1926, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Weigand) Swisher. She married Joseph W. White on August 28, 1944, at the St. Joseph Church in West Liberty, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2005.

She was a graduate of Muscatine High School.

She enjoyed antiquing, and spent many winters traveling to Florida. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include two sons, Michael White and wife, Angela, of Davenport, and David White of Waterford, Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-laws, Francis White and wife, Donna, of Tucson, Ariz., and Alvin Marine and wife, Phyllis, of Muscatine; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Allen Swisher, in 2010.
