Below is an excerpt from her obituary that appeared in the Phoenix paper--The Arizona Republic, Wed., August 23, 1967, pg. 35:
Mrs. Cecil M. Thornton, 73, a member of Central United Methodist Church since moving here 10 years ago from Joplin, MO died Monday at Phoenix General Hospital.
Mrs. Thornton, 1851 E. Pinchot Avenue, was born in Osceola, MO. Services at Mercer Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Thornton of Phoenix; two sisters, Olive McNerney and Bernice McNerney, both of Flagstaff.
