Cyrus's mother was previously married to James Arnold and to their union was born: (Half siblings to Cyrus, Jr.)
Mary Jane Arnold Anthony; Octavia C. Arnold Buckley; Susan Elizabeth Arnold; John Nicholas Arnold and James H Arnold.
To add to the family confusion, Cyrus's father used two different spellings for his last name Kelcy or Kelsey depending on the marriage. The last name was spelled Kelcy for marriages 1. Elizabeth Willis; 3. Lucinda Ann Mayes Wright & 4. Martha Ann Shelton Griffith and all the children born to these marriages used the spelling Kelcy most of the time, but records can be found under both spellings.
Cyrus, his biological brother Joseph Kelsey and sister Amanda C. Kelsey Fry Studebaker were the children born to the second marriage of Malinda (Cooper) Arnold and Cyrus Kade, Sr. using the spelling Kelsey.
Also additional, half siblings to Cyrus King Kade Kelsey are: William E. Kelcy; Mary Kelcy; Margaret Kelcy Ketchum; Samuel Houston Kelcy; John Benjamin "Bud" Kelcy; Step siblings: Lucy Wright; Alexander Wright; James Griffith; Drury Griffith; Margaret Griffith Allison; Joab Griffith and William Griffith.
Cyrus King Kade Kelsey was known to be a kind, good hearted huband, father, brother and friend. He and his wife, Martha Jane (Lowe) Kelsey, shared their home with many of their siblings who were orphaned. Cyrus, Jr. did not have a good relationship or much respect for his father due to the fact Cyrus Sr. seemed to abandon his children when their mother's passed away leaving them in the care of others. This seemed to be the pattern with all his marriages so, Cyrus Jr. became the responsible supportive brother to many of his siblings.
Cyrus, Jr. and Martha "Matt" (Lowe) were also known to be positive, hard working, proactive loving support to their families and community. Cyrus was known to save timber when clearing land and later building a cabin giving it as a wedding gift to help young couples starting out. They also, opened their home to many travelers and helped neighbors in need. He couldn't stand the thought of someone doing without so would show up at your door with food or the offer to help with whatever the need might be if it was in his power to do so.
They had many life challenges including the passing of their first three babies: Walter Jackson Kelsey; Hattie Melancie Kelsey; Molly Malone Kelsey and later their children Amy Kelsey and Owen Kelsey while in their early 20's.
Cyrus and Matt enjoyed farming, ranching and their family being blessed with 12 children they had many happy events and adventures.
Their memories will be cherished and long remembered for the amazing people they were who faced many difficult life challenges while remaining faithfully prositive and living as they believed to love thy neighbor. Their lives were an amazing legacy of love, service and faithfulness.
