Ness City -- Iona Ann Pfannenstiel, 79, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Rhode Island Suites, Ransom, Kan.

She was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Ness County, the daughter of Joseph and Amelia Ruder Pfannenstiel.

Iona worked as an assistant to Dr. Parker and later went to work as a clerk in the ASCS office for 30 years until she retired in 1992. Iona was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Altar Society and Church Choir.

She was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Wendell, Edgar, Theobaldus, Marcellus, Robert, Harold and William; four sisters, Adeline Leiker, Tillie Depperschmidt, Lydia Stecklein and Florence Pfannenstiel.

She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Lorene, Ann and Berniece Pfannenstiel; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City, with burial following in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary and Parish Vigil will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the church. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church.
