Born in Albion, Michigan; son of Fred, and Eva Pearl (Stoddard) Howard.
His brother was George Frederick Howard born 29 June 1902, died Sept. 1969 sisters were Thelma Dorothy Howard born 31 July 1904, died 23 Aug. 1923 and Goldie Francis (Howard) Anderson born 26 Jan. 1909, died 15 March 1983; all of whom were born in Albion, Michigan.
George was buried in Gethsemane Cemetery Detroit, Michigan. Thelma was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Albion, Michigan. Goldie was buried in Park View Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan.
Fred came to the Yomen in the Elgin area when his mother died in Albion, Michigan. At this time he was offered a chance to attend a military academy at Owattouna, Minnesota. The photo shows him to be in a Bugler Uniform (note patch on both sleeves and bugle in hand), at that academy.
He was married to Rose Engle on 7 or 8 Dec 1940. He and Rose had two children from this marriage David and Debra and one grandaughter; Nicole O'Callahan (Nicki) (whom was the apple of his eye). He also had three nephews Mark, Hugh, and Donald Anderson of Michigan.
He served in the Second Army Air Force during World War II, his first duty assignment at Camp (now Fort) Custer Michigan; and in Salt Lake City, Utah and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After the war was over; Fred found employment with the U.S.Post Office in Elgin, Illinois until his retirement. Maybe he delivered your mail to your home or sold you a postage stamp over the counter.
