Private Funeral Services Planned For Doris Thode
Private funeral services are planned Friday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in the Masonic cemetery here for Mrs. Doris Thode, 73, of Orland, who died Tuesday in Sutter Hospital at Sacramento. The Rev. Palmer Janke, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Artois, of which Mrs. Thode had been a lifelong member will conduct the services.
Mrs. Thode was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Michael, prominent pioneer residents of the Artois area and was born at Artois Sept. 23, 1890. She had been a Glenn County resident all of her life and had lived in Orland since 1915. She was the widow of the late Ed N. Thode, who for many years was manager of the Diamond Match lumber yard here.
She is survived by her sons, Alan of Stockton, with the Army Engineers, and Erwin N., of Berkeley, an official of the University of California. Another son, Elwood, died several years ago. She also leaves a brother, Ernest Michael, and sister, Miss Clara Michael, both of Artois, and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Thode had been a patient in Sutter Hospital since Feb. 1 and is said to have been despondent over ill health. Her body was discovered by a nurse hanging by a stocking looped around her neck and attached to a clothes hanger rod. The coroner's office in Sacramento said the death was apparently a suicide. - Transcribed by M.
