Death: 1874

Bertie was born about a year after his parents and 3 older brothers immigrated from Westwood Farm in Worsley, Lancashire, England, to the U.S. His father came over to manage Roane Iron Company's farm in Cumberland County, Tennessee. The doctor told Bertie's parents that he did not have much experience with babies, but that he intended to study them someday. Bertie died in infancy. Bertie is buried with his brothers, twins Isaac Percy Goodier Royle, and Joseph Ernest Goodier Royle. His parents and surviving siblings moved to Texas about 1875, and later on to Oregon and Washington.
