HOWARD LACY LUCKETT was born to JAMES HENRY LUCKETT and LENA MAUDE GRAY on the 10th of January 1902. Being the son of a crop-sharing farmer from Tennessee, Howard Luckett was born into a loving family. As a young boy, Howard would often keep watch over his uncle's stills to keep the "Revenuers" at bay when they would scour through the Tennessee hills, looking for "moonshine". When Howard was just a young boy, his family moved from his childhood home, a sharecroppers cabin in Santa Fe, Maury County Tennessee. James Henry Luckett, Howard's father moved the family west in search of a better life. The life of a Railroad man. Going west, the family lived for a period of time in Oklahoma, in Texas, finally settling in Grand Junction, Colorado. As Howard's father was working for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, Howard soon joined his father, learning the Railroad business. As the roaring twenties approached, the D&RGRR could no longer guarantee work for Railroad families. Again, the Luckett family moved south toward a new life and Railroad, the Santa Fe! As a young man, traveling aboard the Train from Albuquerque New Mexico, Howard met a young woman named Nina whom he immediately knew would become his wife. He married NINA L. FARMER, daughter of WILLIAM FARMER and SARAH VANBRUNT. She was born the 12th of February 1902 in Lawrence, Kansas and recently passed as of 2007.
