Paul served as a Sergeant, Company I, 21st Marines, 3rd Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He resided in Keene, Cheshire County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

Paul was "Killed In Action" on Iwo Jima during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
