|Birth: ||Dec. 16, 1861|

Seattle papers advise of the death there by heart failure of another early pioneer of Brown county, Carril M. Coe, on July 14, at 10 o'clock a.m.
Mr. Coe was born at Ann Arbor, Mich., and came to Brown county, locating at Columbia early in the year 1883 and was first a clerk and then a deputy in the office of the register of deeds in the office of D.C. McKenzie, register of deeds. In 1885 he resigned and entered the abstract and title business in partnership with W.C. Foster under the firm name of Coe & Foster. Later Mr. Foster's interest was purchased by Chas. A. Howard, after which the firm was known as Coe & Howard until it was incorporated under the name of the Coe & Howard Abstract company in September 1887. Mr. Coe was the active manager of the company until the latter part of 1889, when he removed to Kentucky and in 1898 joined the pilgrimage to Alaska. Two years later he entered the paper box business in Seattle. He was joined in marriage at Aberdeen in 1885 to his wife, Ollie, who survives him, their only child, Harold, having passed away many years ago.
A few years ago he sold his business, and being in poor health, retired, and since that time had been an invalid much of the time, so that his death was not unexpected by his friends.
Mr. Coe was active and energetic and one of the men who helped make early history in Brown county, and the sympathy of a large circle of friends here will go to Mrs. Coe in her bereavement. He was one of the early members of the A.O.U.W. in Aberdeen, still retaining his membership. He was very active in Masonic circles during his residence in Aberdeen and was a past master of Aberdeen lodge. He will be remembered and regretted by many local friends among the pioneers.
Interment was made at Seattle.
