Edward Harmon Simpson Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Edward Harmon Simpson Jr., former resident and native of Winona, were conducted Tuesday, July 19, 1994 at First Presbyterian Church of Lavonia, Georgia where he was a longtime member. Burial was in the Lavonia Cemetery.
Mr. Simpson graduated from Winona High School and Bowling Green, Kentucky Business College. He was a veteran of World War II who saw service in the Aleutian Islands and the European Theater. He was also in business with his brother, Cecil, in Simpson's Grocery on Front Street in Winona for a number of years after World War II.
Mr. Simpson died of a heart attack following colon surgery, Saturday, July 16 at Anderson Memorial Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina. He was 79 years of age.
He is survived by his son, Edward Harmon Simpson III of Spartanburg, South Carolina; his stepdaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Douglas of Alpharetta, Georgia: his stepson, James Little of Kingsport, Tennessee; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Margaret Patterson of Biloxi and Mrs. Vivian Cottingham of Memphis, Tennessee; his brother, Joe Simpson of Winona: and three grandchildren.
