Sarah was born in Pennsylvania to a lumberman, Charles Younkin, and his wife Hanah. The 1850 Census shows 12 year old Sarah living with her mother and father in White, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and her brothers John (10), Henry (6) and sisters Mary (7) and Susan (1).

John Goss Warrick married Sarah Ann (Younkin) Warrick June 9, 1859. He was a farmer, and they lived in Cuming Township, Washington County, Nebraska. They had many children, and some of the children died young. All the names and ages below are according to how the census takers wrote them (source: National Archives) and while all the children were listed as sons or daughters of John and Sarah, there is some variation in ages and perhaps spelling. John was always listed as farmer; Sarah was at home, or keeping house.
At the time of the 1870 Census, the household consisted of John (38)& Sarah (30) with sons and daughers Wyone (12), Elisabeth (10), Susan (8) Horatia (6) and "No Name" baby.

At the time of the 1880 Census, the household grew. Now there were John (47), Sarah (43) Elisabeth (20), Liona (18), Susan (16), Rachael (13), Dean (10), Charles (8), Isaiah (6), Kneum (4), Nora (7 months).

At the time of the Nebraska State Census (June 6, 1885), there were John G (52), Sarah A (48), Charles A (14), Eustus (1), Isaac (12), Morrice (8), Nora (5) and Rachel M(18).

By 1900 US Census, John (66) and Sarah (59) had been married 40 years. John was no longer farming, but they had the same neighbors. The only three left in the farm home were John & Sarah, and their 16 year old daughter Esther A.

On the back of the tombstone for John and Sarah, there are 4 names. The inscription reads (with ditto marks) "Their children" and then below, one line for each child:
L.W. Warrick, age 21 yrs 7mos. 6 ds.
S.D. " , 14 " 4 " 7 "
J " , 0 " 4 " 29 "
E " , 5 hours

So although the census takers may have had trouble with all the children's names, this indicates that the parents knew, remembered, and loved each child.

About five years ago Mrs. John Warrick suffered a paralytic stroke and since then has had three others, the last, which came about two weeks ago, left her right side completely paralyzed. She failed gradually from that time until death claimed her at 7:15 last Saturday evening. Mrs. Warrick was a member of the Christian church, but the funeral service was held at the Baptist church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Motter of Craig officiating, assisted by Rev. Conley. Her husband died on Jan. 25th two years ago in Arlington, and was buried from the same church. Sarah A. Younkin was born in Clearfield county, Pa. on Aug. 1st, 1838, and was married to John G. Warrick June 9th, 1859. They came to this county in 1866 and made their home on a farm a few mile northwest of this city, until shortly before Mr. Warrick's death when they moved to Arlington. After his death Mrs. Warrick bought the property opposite the Redfield Bakery on Lincoln street where she died. She leaves eight children, all of whom were present at the funeral service. Mrs. W. W.
