The funeral for Melvin Clay Mitchell, 76, of 605 Lee Ave., Harrisonburg will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Muhlenberg Lutheran Church.

Dr. K. Roy Nilsen will conduct the service. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Mitchell died Aug. 26, 1993, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, where he had been a patient since Thursday.

He was born Dec. 21, 1916, in West Virginia and was a son of the late Clay Albert and Myrtle George Mitchell.

He moved to Harrisonburg from Deer Run, W.Va., in 1954, and was a member of the Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. He was employed as a carpenter for the R.G. Reeves Construction Co.

On Feb. 24, 1956, he married Edith Hottinger, who survives.

Also surviving are three brothers, George and Ray Mitchell, both of Broadway, and Glen Mitchell of Harrisonburg; and three sisters, Nellie Hammer of Franklin,W.Va., Maude Kuykendall of Milam, W.Va., and Lucy-Simon of Fort Seybert, W.Va.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Unit at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
